Schauraum project space : Vienna : 2008
A converted shop/showroom does not allow the pubic to enter the space, but offers only a look inside from the street, through the locked glass door. The instalation uses motion detectors to switch on the sound and light. I was interested in the voyeuristic quality of the space, which relies on the curiosity of the passer-by to trigger the work.
The installation uses delicate, monochrome materials in combination with the urgency of orange ‘garage’ light to explore the suffocating geometry of modest urban flats and relationships of mutual dependence.
